I’m delighted to announce that my solo art show, Implied Horizons: Watercolors By Anne Nordhaus-Bike, opens Friday, Nov. 3, and runs through Saturday, Dec. 2. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
It will be held in Northbrook, IL, and it opens with a special artist reception on Nov. 3, starting at 5:30 p.m.
I’m also giving an artist talk on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. I hope you can join me for the talk: I’m so looking forward to showing you my latest creations and sharing some behind the scenes stories.
My Roots In Northbrook—And In Art
This show takes me back to my roots in a big way. I grew up in Northbrook and lived there until my mid-20s. Also, I got my artistic start as a watercolor painter there.
So it’s been wonderful to go back to my hometown to plan this show, which is being held at the Five Seasons Family Sports Club. Every time I’ve gone there these past few months, I’ve been reminded of so many people and experiences from the past, even as I see how much Northbrook has changed over the years.
Five Seasons Family Sports Club
And it’s a great thrill to have the opportunity to share my latest paintings with you in such a great setting: the beautiful Five Seasons Family Sports Club, located at 1300 Techny Rd. in Northbrook, IL. Five Seasons is a premier year-round high-energy, high touch sports club focused on family leisure and entertainment, improving sports performance, and maintaining overall health.
The club is a gorgeous setting for showcasing my work. And everyone at Five Seasons has been so gracious in helping me create this opportunity to share my paintings with you and with their members and with the general public. All of us are so excited to for you to see what I’ve been up to artistically for the past several months.
More About Implied Horizons
Implied Horizons: Watercolors By Anne Nordhaus-Bike presents 21 of my latest watercolors. None of these paintings has ever been exhibited before.
This series came about while I was exploring the interplay and synthesis that occur when disparate things come together along an axis, implying a horizon. I loved seeing how I could combine contrasting colors and even quite bold ones and still evoke a feeling of peace.
The Implied Horizons series also represents a new freedom for me. I allowed myself to embrace a spirit of play and experimentation while painting, resulting in works filled with loose and energetic brushwork. And I let my intuition guide me in choosing and applying the colors, some of which are combinations of pastels while others feature brighter colors with high contrast.
You’ll find that all these paintings carry an essence of peace, stillness, and tranquility. My wish for you is that you’ll feel my personality as you gaze at these works, share my joy in creating them, and gain a deeper sense of peacefulness.
