Astrology: My "Other Hat"
In addition to my work as an artist, I have been a professional astrologer for many years.
This past May, I attended the United Astrology Conference (UAC), Celebrating Earth And Sky, which took place in downtown Chicago, my hometown. Billed as the world’s largest gathering of astrologers, this weeklong event attracted professional astrologers from all over the world as well as numerous students of this ancient art and science.
I attended many lectures at UAC as well as social events and met many, many interesting people working in this field.
The Moon: Divine Feminine
Among the more intriguing sessions I attended was The Feminine Path of Self-Awakening and Personal Brilliance: Three Essential Aspects.
Given by Kelley Hunter, PhD, who focuses on what she calls "depth astrology – an inspirational blend of psychology, spirituality and the mythic context of our lives," the session used depth psychology and mythology to explore the divine feminine through the Moon, Venus, and Black Moon Lilith.
Kelley also publishes an online newsletter at each new and full Moon.
My Moonrise Painting And Astrology
Following the conference, Kelley and I followed up with each other by email. After looking at my art website, she told me how much she liked my work, and she specifically asked if she could include my Moonrise oil painting in an upcoming newsletter.
I had enjoyed Kelley’s presentation so much and agreed my painting would complement her writing beautifully.
Today, she published her latest newsletter, which features Moonrise Over Lake Michigan II.
